I’m an epicurean at heart. Partly this is due to my heritage—I inherited the German Berlin tradition from my father and the French tradition from my mother—partly due to my life experience—living in Sénégal from 1969–1972 I learned to love African food, and my time in Bavaria from 1972–1975 exposed me to that cuisine—and the rest, probably by extension, due to my personality: I love trying new things!! And to a large extent, the more exotic, off-beat, or wild, the better!
