Patta Gobi aur Mattar

- 4 tsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp cumin seed
- 14 oz cabbage (ca. 6 cups) chopped
- 1 large tomato chopped
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- salt (to taste)
- 1.5 cups petit pois (peas)
- 1 large onion chopped (optional)
- 1 hot pepper chopped (optional)
Heat the oil in an electric skillet or other frying pan over medium heat; add the cumin seeds and fry for a few seconds or until the cumin begins to change colour.
Stir in the cabbage, tomato, other spices, and salt, as desired. Stir and cook for 5 minutes or so.
Add the peas and continue to cook while stirring occasionally, another 5 or so minutes, until the cabbage is tender but still crunchy and dry.
Remove from heat and serve.
